With Davido and Wizkid currently leading the show, a whole lot more will certainly be achieved in local entertainment, particularly the music industry and we can feel it like the swoosh sound of a breezy, cold evening in Lagos.
Sony Music/ RCA have been instrumental in making some of these big dreams come to fruition. We can’t stress this enough and truth is we will probably never be able to overemphasize the subject.
On Monday, October 31, 2016; American television star Taraji Henson shared a screenshot of a song she is currently, totally in love with and it turns out she is expressing overt admiration for none other than Nigerian pop star, Davido.
In response, the Gbagbe Oshi crooner stated that he’d love to get on the set of Empire, her hit TV show, so as to further sizzle things with his African heat.
How interesting these words, about an African entertainer, specifically a Nigerian music star.
What’s even more interesting is how she termed the song a ‘heater’.
What an amazingly impressive way to put it, to describe a song by a non-American artiste (well, not to say Davido wasn’t born in Atlanta, USA as reports have stated time and again but to say he is clearly an African music star.
Anyway, to put this is clearer light; a heater is a device that heats water or supplies warmth to a room.
Now, Taraji Henson was saying figuratively that Davido's song with Tinashe is a total, well-crafted piece of work so good it gets her body livened.
ANYBODY who knows me know I LOVE MUSIC!!!especially WORLD MUSIC!!! Thank you @tymwallacehair for turning me on to another heater!!!

This could well serve as make or break phase for the local industry so we must take complete advantage of the exposure and the attendant media buzz from the international communities.
There probably will be no better opportunity to set the world afire with our sounds, hence we must never lose the core of it.
So as much as crossing over is awesome, artists in the vanguard of this phase must stay true to their roots.
The likes of Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage must never be disillusioned to the point they think they are on top of things and can afford to mess with their crafts or serve whatever to the audience. Because in the end, when all has been said and done, only music with substance will stand the test of time.
