
President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Nigeria’s men senior national team, the Super Eagles on their 3-1 victory over Algeria in the African qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Buhari in a message to the team in a statement, by his aide on media and publicity, femi Adesina commended the team for meeting the expectation of Nigerian’s during the match.
The President commends the team and its handlers for displaying uncommon strength, determination and high professionalism in the onward and steady progress to the 2018 tournament in Russia.
With six points in our kitty from two impressive wins, President Buhari assures the team that the Federal Government; and indeed all Nigerians will continue to support them to make the nation proud,” the statement read.
Buhari also commended the Akwa-Ibom state government for hosting the match and the fans for their good conduct and sportsmanship throughout the game. Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated their Algerian counterpart 3-1 on Saturday, November 12, to maintain top position in their World Cup qualifying group.
Two goals from Victor Moses and one by captain John Obi Mikel helped the Nigerians defeat their opponents in the match played at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Akwa Ibom.
